I worked for 7 years to build the creative lifestyle center in YWAM. Within 9 months of finishing, the building was sold, the ministry closed, and the building (and all my work) demolished - replaced with condos. That sentence sits on the page now the way it sat in my chest for a long time — flat, finished, not something you bring up at dinner. You learn to talk around it. You learn to let the story end at the sale and the demolition and the quiet that followed. What you don't say is how much of yourself you left in the walls that came down.
